St James’ Church is a modern catholic Church open to all whatever their age, gender or sexuality. St James’ is based in Milton, Portsmouth and serves the parish of Milton and Eastney.
Father Paul Armstead, the parish priest, came to us looking for a new website, which would act as a window into life at St James’ Church, promote the hiring of their halls, services and all activities held at the church, whilst also promoting Christian life and love in a way that would appeal to their vast audience. All of the websites Divine Aesthetic build are responsive, and the St James’ website would be no exception. The website would be designed to work equally well across mobile devices as it would on desktop, allowing all visitors browsing the website to have a smooth, user experience.
St James’ were keen to have a website that could be easily maintained and kept up to date by themselves, through a fitting content management system. We built their website using a CMS that would allow them to access the back end of the website, and simply update details as and when needed, such as the pew sheet, magazine and events calendar.
Some of the features included in the St James’ website include:
- Event calendar – with individual event listings
- Get Involved page – visual navigation page, with links to all activities offered at St James’ Church.
- Integrated blog
- Prayer request form
- Social media widgets – linking the website to the St James’ Twitter & Facebook accounts
- ‘What would you like to do next’ carousel – making navigation across the website seamless
The final result of the St James’ website build tells the story of the church, whilst positioning it as an appealing and active community, suitable for all ages and genders. The website provides a smooth user experience, fresh look and easily accessible information, successfully fulfilling Father Paul’s initial brief. Take a look at the St James’ website here.
