Over the past few months, we have been working with Making Space, to develop their new website.
Based in Leigh Park, Making Space is home to seven individual studio spaces and two workshops, and is the lead craft organisation in Hampshire, promoting excellence in contemporary craft, design and visual arts.
Before the development of a new website, Making Space had gone through a visual identity refresh, with the creation of a new logo and brand colours. Making Space wanted a website which would successfully promote them as the lead craft organisation in Hampshire, make accessible the wealth of content available to their different target audiences, provide a window into Making Space providing a showcase for the diverse offerings available to the different target audiences, as well as provide a platform to enable them to implement digital marketing strategies which would in turn help increase, and maintain their client base.
The Making Space website is mobile friendly and works across all devices, enabling easy access, and viewing for everyone. All website functionality is available across all devices, including eCommerce, meaning that Making Space’s customers are now able to book and pay for classes using their smartphone or tablet.
The Making Space website includes a large amount of content, and an integral part of the brief was to ensure that all of the content was easily accessible across the website. Throughout the website we included a ‘What Would You Like To Do Next’ call to action, which allows the website visitor to seamlessly continue their journey around the website.
As well as ensuring the content was easily accessible, it was also very important that the website clearly presented the content to the correct target audiences. The Making Space target audience is divided into 2 main categories which are ‘Makers’, who are skilled and experienced in craft, and the ‘Community’, which comprises of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
In order to make the content accessible for the Makers, we created a Makers homepage, which includes links to all of the Makers pages, including Makers Events, Rent a Studio and Associate Makers. Again this makes navigation simple and intuitive, whilst allowing the visitor to quickly gauge what information they will be able to find on this section of the website.
The Get Involved landing page was created to make navigation across relevant pages swift and simple. This allows the website visitors from the community to find information that is relevant to them with ease.
We included email newsletter pop ups throughout the site, enabling Making Space to increase their email list, and potential leads. These have been segmented to capture details from Makers and Community, each going into separate lists for that future emailings can be tailor specifically to the appropriate audience. We also installed incentivised lead capture functionality, which will be set live when there are appropriate events, case studies, eBooks etc available for give away.
Ami, who we worked with closely over the course of the website build had this to say about the project:
“I was thrilled when Divine Aesthetic got on board to design our new website. From the first meeting they came across as knowledgeable and dynamic. Mark and Amber understood that it is important to not only have an aesthetically pleasing website but one that really worked for both us and our customers. Their approach to website design is refreshing and very modern, truly understanding the most efficient way to convert website visitors to Making Space customers which of course is an important thing for any arts organisation.
Divine Aesthetic were very competitive with their prices and when you take into consideration all the things they included within their quote, maintenance support and extra plug-ins etc they were brilliant value for money.
When it came to actually designing the site itself they took on a mammoth task as the Making Space website is huge!! A detailed site map was agreed early on in the process and they kept in regular contact throughout with content being uploaded as and when we sent it on. There was great communication between the two organisations and we were able to work closely and easily throughout.
The website itself is a work of art and we; staff, customers and board members alike are all thrilled with the final result. It is clean, professional, easy to navigate and most importantly is a true reflection of where we see our organisation now. I am 100% confident that the new website with be a huge marketing help to us, and already we have seen an increase of online customer engagement which is fantastic.
I cannot recommend or thank Divine Aesthetic enough for their professional approach and hard work. From the first meeting the the behind the scenes hand-over training they have been a pleasure to work with.“
We are really happy with the end result of this website, and thoroughly enjoyed working with Making Space.
